Building out a basement from scratch

I spent a good part of December 2021 building out the darkroom, starting with framing and sheetrock. The difficult part was making everything as light tight as possible. I had to build a soffit to cover the pipes overhead and use spray foam in some of the corners where it was impossible to get a perfect cut against the foundation wall.

This was my first time working with tile and grout, as well as plumbing. My electrician friend ran the wires for me. I’m grateful for that. Next time I’ll hire a plumber too.

I used probably 60% reclaimed materials.

Obviously, there is a fair amount of work left, but I’d say I’m about 70% of the way there. My goal is to have it operational by the end of Spring 2022.
